Longing

Featured Poet: Nanie G.

If I had one wish
It would be for her to love me back
Just dreaming
Makes me want her more.
I'm missing her
In a way I thought I never would
My need for her
Is starting to take over me.
Thinking of her beautiful smile
Is making me crave for one sweet kiss

Please just give me that one wish!!

Chris Brown and Rihanna's Relationship Is Not More Cinderella Story

Sunday, February 8th, 2009 has been a long and turbulent day for both Rihanna and Chris Brown. This incident about the couple has so many theories about the cause and the fact of the bruises on Rihanna's face. But what we know for sure is that some abstruse thing really happened.

According to the LAPD (Los Angeles Police Department), Chris Brown and an unidentified woman were in a vehicle in the Hancock Park neighborhood of Los Angeles early Sunday when they began arguing. Also due to the fact that it is a domestic violence, the information is confidential. (www.mtv.com)

According to Entertainment Weekly's Web site, Rihanna and Brown were involved in a car accident Sunday night; a rep for her would not confirm or deny the accident, saying only that "Rihanna is well. Thank you for the care and support."

Seattlepi.com writes that prosecutors won't press charges based on the initial investigation of Chris Brown, but asked officers to gather more evidence as they decide whether to proceed against him. Brown was released on $50,000 bail Sunday night.

MTV.com posted that "Text message might be behind Chris Brown and and Rihanna fight." A text message sent to Chris Brown from another woman may have ignited the explosive argument between the "Run It" singer and girlfriend Rihanna, according to TMZ.

No one knows if the singer Rihanna, Brown's girlfriend, is really fine. According to MTV.com, Rihanna's grandmother told a newspaper in the singer's native Barbados that Rihanna is "fine".

According to eonline.com, a source close to the investigation tells E! News exclusively that Rihanna has alleged to police that Brown choked her while threatening to kill her and, subsequently, she lost consciousness. Whatever Brown had done that Sunday night, it is affecting his celebrity and the contract he should have done. According to eonline.com, The folks behind the popular "Got Milk?" spots have announced they're dropping the R&B star from their celeb roster, two days after Brown was busted for allegedly roughing up Rihanna. However, the cosmetics company said it would continue running TV and print ads starring the 20-year-old "Live Your Life" chanteuse but declined to comment on the situation.

This incident might have different stories, but what we know for sure is that something happened to both, Rihanna and Chris Brown, on February 9th and they are both still dealing with it.

Lady Tech Tigers Victory

On February 4, 2008 there was a game in the I.S 339 gym. It was the 339 Lady Tech Tigers versus the I.S 383. I interviewed Coach Key, and a local team member of the boy's Tech Tiger team, Elmy. Here is what they said about the game:

Ms. Key:
Q: Who was going against the tech tigers?

"We played 383. They are a brand new school this year."

Q: Who won the game?

"The tech tigers won the game 19 to 14."

Q: How long was the game?
"We play 4 periods of 6 minutes each, plus some timeouts and halftime. So in total, our game was about 45 minutes."

Q: Who was the best player in the basket ball game?
"We have different players that stand out in different games. We have players who score lots of points, some who are great on defense, and some that help support the team in different ways. What is great about our team is that we always win by a team effort, not just one player who hogs the ball. In terms of yesterday though, the offensive MVP was Fiord, and the defensive MVP was Veronica."

Elmy:
Q: What phrases will you use to describe the game?
"They were whack,
Fiord was demolishing,
it was nice,
the best game ever!"

Reflections from January 20th

Wow, everybody is so happy for this wonderful event! Today, January 20th, 2009, the first African-African, has been inaugurated into the White House. Joy and happiness has been introduced into our lives, especially for African-Americans and Africans. All of our hopes have come true. All of our dreams that we have believed in, the dreams that have been told by Dr. Martin Luther King, have come true. I may be just a teenager, but I have learned a lot about the election through the selection of Barack Obama. It has taught me a lot. Not only because he is the first African-American to become president, but because of his intellect, because of the joy he brings to politics, because of this liberation we all feel that we can do anything that we want. Nobody can make us give up. I mean, I have learned through Obama's experiences, that if you believe in it than you can get it.
All the words Mr. Obama speaks make me more inspired to follow my goals and dreams. I have learned a lot from the Obama's because of their previous experiences and their childhood. I can't write all the lessons I have learned from President Obama right now, but the lessons that they have taught me, I believe in them, I want to live them, and teach anyone my age in similar circumstances about them. My children, my grandchildren will learn these lessons too. I want everyone, any age, to go to school and have a good education. Because, me and my peers are the future. We are the ones that will represent America or wherever you are from. Education is the first and most important thing, as well as the key of the the future.
I really thank our new President Barack Obama from the bottom of my heart for these important beliefs he taught me. I wold like Barack Obama to continue the project he talked about in the election about Education, and change. I still have a feeling that things will get better. And I believe that I am not the only one. YOU are my Hero, Barck Obama, and his family in the White House. I don't want to forget Joseph Biden who is behind supporting Barack Obama.
Barack Obama speeches let us know that we are all equal, we still are one country, we are all human no matter what color you are. This is important because sometimes our personal identify can be made fun of. But Barack Obama has now shown us the way, and now it seems that we're all equal, that we can make ourselves shine if we believe in our dream, our talents like Barack Obama did. Thank you Barak Obama for becoming our leader.

February's Technology Open House

The technology open house is when all students use technology to show off all the ways we use technology at our school to the viewers or visitors who want to come see.
The tech open house happened on the 2nd of February, 2009.Lots of visitors came to see our technology. They were people from the board of education and from College and some were vice principles from other middles. I was the one of the tour guides at the school. As a tour guide I showed visitors how the computers are convenient. I also told them and showed how the teachers interact with there students with care and compassion.
I was also the panel we (the teachers and the students) were asked questions on how do many things work out with the computer and "do the computers give immediate feedback?" or "do the students get off task? and etc."
It was nice and fun we got treats like donuts and etc. I am looking forward to the next one in March.

Testing Nerves

People always annoy people in different ways
I rock my style everyday
My shoes my clothes
When I make a pose
the camera flick
I did a split

All my haters look at me like I'm dumb
Chewing on a piece of bubble gum
They stare hard till their eyes drop
I be licking on my lollipop

I walk up to them and say what's wrong?
They said nothing and kept moving on
I went to the party and saw my boo
I saw him with a girl's named tattooed

I went to the mall and shopped fast
This would be my end and his last
Why do people have to annoy
Let me not say anything cuz that's every boy
I went home with a broken chest
I want to know who's more depressed.

Obama Signs Child Health Care Bill

By: Aurelie K.
On Wednesday, February 4th, 2009, our new President Barack Obama took one step in the right direction about the health care situation. He spent all his time last year charming the hearts of American people. And he did. Now, Barack Obama has finished the election, so now the Presidential responsibilities start and it is his job to work in his office in the White House.

According to International Herald Tribune, a smiling Obama said, "This is good. This is good." as he entered the East Room for the packed, ebullient signing ceremony. Barack Obama signed a bill extending health coverage to 4 million uninsured children.

This is a important step toward his promise for the health care for all. With the resignation of Tom Daschle, President Obama needed triumph. According to The Buffalo News, "[This Bill] would reduce the number of uninsured children in America by about half over the next 4 years and boost the number covered by the program to 11 million."

This is very vital for so many children especially for families who don't have money to take their kids to hospitals. We all hope with all our heart that Barack Obama would keep all his promises. I wish him good luck and more courage in his work. This step would help so many children like me and together we would the future of this country.

Stop Eating McDonald's Because it is NOT Healthy

Why do people eat McDonalds right after school?
I believe kids from 339 go to Mc.D right after school because they didn't like the food that was given in school. People carry enough money to buy food from Mc.D or a bodega because they don't like school lunch. I think Mc.D is persuasive and it grabs people's attention, mostly kids. Expecially when there is advertisements going on about Mc.D. They make the food look juicy and delicious. It is especially funny when the fries and hamburgers start talking.
I think that kids from all over the world should stop eating Mc.D because it will hurt your health because it could give you diseases like diabetes. However, it can take you to a bad location where nobody wants to end up at, like the hospital. I believe anyone who agrees with my statement should have a strike against Mc.D because it is very difficult to see our young beautiful children getting sick just because of food.
MORE HEALTHY FOOD
LESS JUNK!
No one wants to go eat at a place where there are live animals crawling around on the counters and rat poop in people's food.
NO!
People need to be aware of this! Instead of eating Mc.D we need to eat fresh and healthy and clean. Lets try to eat homemade food because it's better then wasting a dollar on Mc.D. Save your money, eat healthy food, AND STOP EATING MCDONALD'S!

My Love

By: Jakanko K.

He was so loved
And totally above
He was so sweet
He always kissed my cheeks

He was the one
And always had fun
We would go to school together
And hold hands forever

We were there for one another
And our parents met each other
This was a special day
We would sing and pray

When his hand touches me
I feel the wind set me free
And I would let us be
Until he bends his knee

What's going on outside the building...
