Education and Video Games?

This goes to all the parent out there, do you remember the times when your children used to bother you because they had nothing else to do? Well people in Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo have found a cure for your children's boredom. They invented the video game. They video game is an invention that can keep your children occupied for hours. In a video game your child can be a superhero a solider and even the president.
Video games were invented during the 1940's. Back then video games weren't as high tech as they are today. Back then a video game would be two lines and a dot. You would have control of the lines and you will hit the dot back and forth. During this century kids might think that what they called video games during the past is boring. But what they don't know is if it wasn't for the games of the past we wouldn't have the games of the future. Take the lines and stick game for example. If that were never created they couldn't have made tennis games. If games like Pong weren't invented then we never would have games like Wii tennis.
During the 21st century three companies have become the giants of the video game world. Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo have all tried to out do themselves so they could become the king of video games. When Microsoft came out with the Xbox 360, Sony came PS3 and Nintendo came up with the Wii. What people think about is that while having all these different video games are fun for us, the consumer, the people who create them are really trying to run their competitors out of business.
Like other inventions, video games have their ups and downs. The problem with video games is that the people who play it get a little too addicted to them. The inventors who invented it made it so that the players would come back for more. Video games are helpful and hurtful. If school's created video games that had to do with education then students might be more engaged. They can be hurtful because sometimes when kids get addicted to them, and sometimes don't do homework. Who knows what the future will hold for video games in education, but I am hoping the combination comes out soon.
